This project was inspired by one of the Kingwood Park Silver Star Booster Club parents (Kingwood, Texas). Here is her story:
This morning one of our SSPO Board Members received a call from a teacher she works with. Her daughter works at the Kingwood Medical Center ER. As you probably have heard on the news most hospitals and healthcare facilities, including Kingwood, have run out of appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment - gowns, masks etc) that healthcare professionals use to protect themselves from contagions when providing patient care. She was beside herself worrying for her daughter and her daughter's colleagues. Once we realized that there was no way for us to
purchase what is needed, our SSPO Board group chat quickly turned into "Let's figure out a way to at least make some masks!" This would be a great opportunity for our SSPO families and dancers to come together (without actually BEING together) and make a difference.
There continues to be a need for protective face masks for our medical personnel on the front line and for those who are in need such as cancer patients or the critically ill who must continue with treatment.
Suppliers are out of product and it will be a while before new supplies are restocked. Join the project and help make a difference for others!
